Maritime General Insurance Brokers (MGIB) was founded on the 26th February 1986 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Maritime & Shipping Group of Companies. The brokerage evolved primarily as a Personal Lines writer with a few commercial accounts. Following a shareholding reorganization on the 12th December 2007, the new shareholders are now as under:
- Errol T Ziadie, Thomas C Smith, Afeef A Lazarus, Kim N Clarke

*  MGIB is fully licensed by the Financial Services Commission as Retail and Facultative Brokers.
*  The Company carries Professional Indemnity Insurance for US$5,000,000.

Began his career in the early 70’s as an Insurance Broker operating in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. This led to 16 years as General Manager\Director of General Accident Insurance Company Ltd ending in 2001. He led NEM Insurance Company Ltd as Managing Director for 5 years until 2006. He remains a Director of NEM Insurance Company Ltd.

During his long and rewarding career his posts include:

A professional with over twenty years management experience and thirty years general insurance experience; extensive knowledge of worldwide insurance standards and trends; specializing in major account handling. He holds the qualification of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, CPCU. The last 2 years were spent as the Regional Director for CGM Insurance Brokers Ltd, developing an extensive client base throughout the Caribbean. Prior to that, he held the post of Managing Director of CGM Insurance Brokers Jamaica Ltd (formerly International Insurance Brokers Ltd) for 5 years and saw the successful development of a solid professional team and a focused growth of commercial business in the Jamaican market.

Mr. Clarke has over 15 years as a professional in the Shipping Industry in Jamaica and the Caribbean. He holds a BBA (University of Miami) and is a licensed Customs Broker. He currently is the Managing Director of the Maritime & Transport Group of Companies, a company involved in all aspects of the Shipping Industry through its 5 subsidiary companies.
